Love Is ...

Wendy Anderson Halperin adapts I Corinthians 13 in her beautifully illustrated book Love Is ....

Each page shows people either adhering to, or behaving in a manner contrary to the truths in this beloved chapter of the Bible.

For example, the page spread for "Love is patient, love is kind," shows a bunch of children standing in line jostling and shoving each other. On the other side, the same group is quietly standing in a straight line. And that is just one of the illustrations pictured!

There are continuing scenarios throughout the book as well. There is a house that, apparently through lack of love, becomes more and more run down as the book progresses. On the other hand, a sculptor creates a masterpiece that becomes more lovely with each turn of the page.
What I Like: The illustrations depict people from all races and walks of life. There are so many small details to notice, and the pictures will definitely make your child think.

What I Dislike: There is a feeling of sensory overload when you first open this book! Some children may find it a little too much to handle. Also, some of the pictures may be a little confusing for a child. They may not be able to discern how each picture applies to the Scripture.
