Baby Blessings: A Prayer for the Day You Are Born
In Baby Blessings: A Prayer for the Day You Are Born by Deloris Jordan, the stunning illustrations alone make the book worth reading. In true picture book form, most of this heartwarming story is told not through words but through images painted by illustrator James E. Ransome.
The story depicts a young child’s life from birth to his first day of kindergarten. Readers see milestones like bike riding, and tender moments, like bedtime prayers. On each two page spread, his loving parents are shown either interacting with or watching over him. The couple is full of smiles and encouragement, sweeping the reader into a wondrous vision of hope and an endearing picture of family life. The illustrations are complemented by a single sentence line of text. These words offer deep nuggets of wisdom, from “Always strive to do your best” to “Believe and trust in God and his promises of blessings.”
The book oozes with reassurances of support, trust, joy, and love.
What I Like: Everything. This book would be a great baby gift, but also a perfect book to read to a child who is anxious about leaving the comfort of home to start school. It’s a book to treasure.
What I Dislike:Nothing.
