Learn-to-Read Bible

The Learn-to-Read Bible, written by Heather Gemmen, is a great way to introduce early readers to the concept of reading a Bible.

This one is full of short text and lots of pictures. Like a regular Bible, it is divided into two sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament. Stories are presented from many, but not all, of the books of the Bible. There are 147 stories in all.

The sections are divided into chapters, most of which are only two pages long. Each page starts with two words to read aloud to your child before reading the rest of the page. Those two words are, in turn, highlighted in the text on that page. And each chapter gives a Bible reference for the story.

A letter to adults is included in the beginning of the book providing tips for how to make reading and learning about the Bible both educational and fun.

The illustrations are bright and colorful and cartoon-like, sure to please a child in the suggested age group of 4-8.

What I Like: Everything.

What I Dislike: Nothing.

Overall Rating: Excellent.

Age Appeal: 4-8.
