All About God's Animals: Around the Water

Teaching children about nature without removing God from the picture is the goal of many parents, and in All About God's Animals: Around the Water Janyre Tromp does a beautiful job of accomplishing this goal for young children.

Each two-page spread of this board book is filled with beautiful full color photographs of creatures who live in and around the water, along with a question about one of them. For example, the first two pages read: "God gave me a pouch on my bill to catch fish for a meal. Who am I?" Pictured on the page are a seagull, pelican, clam, and sea urchin (all labeled for parents who may feel unsure about identifying them).

The book also asks questions about hermit crabs, frogs, beavers, snakes, eels, caribou, stingrays, flamingos, and many other creatures.

What I Like: This is a beautiful book with plenty of photos to ignite conversations with young children.

What I Dislike: Nothing.

Overall Rating: Excellent.

Age Appeal: According to the publisher, 4 - 8, but I'd say infant to kindergarten.
