Angels are God's Helpers

Angels Are God's Helpers, by Shelly Morrow Whitenburg, is a sweet book that focuses on the truths from Psalm 91:11: "For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

A child reading this poetic book may feel a sense of comfort as they realize that God has sent His helpers to watch over them as they go about their daily lives:

"Angels are not easy to see or hear ... But they are always right with you, oh so very near."

The situations shown in this book are practical ones that children face each day: swinging with friends, fighting over a toy, and more.

What I Like: This little book does not make angels seem magical, but makes it very clear that they are God's helpers. I also appreciated the simple but eye pleasing illustrations.

What I Dislike: There was nothing that I really disliked about this book. Some parents may feel that the role of angels is taken farther than they are used to. The text says that you can call on angels for help or guidance, "If you are feeling scared or lonely, or somewhat out of sorts, Or if you need help with schoolwork or even playing sports..."

Overall Rating: Very Good

Age Appeal: The publisher does not specify, but I feel that ages 4-8 would most benefit from this book.

I enjoyed your review of Angels are Gods Helpers, Beverly very much because it was objective, to the point and very helpful! After reading your review, I am convinced that this seems like a very beautiful book for a child. Sometimes, it is hard to explain the rolls of God and His angles to children and it seems like this book does a great job of comforting children, even if it may overstep the role of angels in the mind of some parents. I think that going out of this world and over simplifying some concepts helps children understand better.
I also like that you made sure to include the fact that it draws examples from real life situations that children face. I think if a child has nothing to relate to, outside of the book, they could have trouble understanding the true meaning.
I look forward to more reviews!
