God Speaks About You!
The author includes a reference section at the end of the
book for each promise and faith statement. The word joyful comes from 1 Peter
1:8: “You believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious
joy.” We know God lives in our heart because he tells us so in 1 Corinthians
6:19: “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you.” The text
consists of 11 such statements, each reference by at least one Bible verse.
The
illustrations by Ed Koehler are bright, colorful and simply delightful.
What I
Like: One thing I really like is the illustrations. They are bright and
colorful. But, even more than that, because of the way the pages are laid out,
the text actually becomes part of the illustrated page, making the whole very
engaging.
I also
like the short promises and statements. They are simply stated and relatively
easy to understand.
What I
Dislike: My only complaint is that the book is written in verse. Written verse
is difficult to do and do well. The rhyme scheme is off in places and the
rhythm is a bit forced in others. But, having said that, overall the rhyming
text still manages to work well for this book.
Overall
Rating: Very good.
Age
Appeal: 4-8.
