The boy in this story loves video games. He loves them so much he’d rather play video games than do anything else. He wants to play them all the time. His parents tell him he needs to do other things, like read books or get some exercise.
One day his mom tells him that he has played games too much. He needs to do something else and get some exercise. He tells his mom he gets his exercise by playing video games. His mom doesn’t like his attitude and grounds him from playing the games for two weeks. When the child is forced to do other things, he finds he likes playing outdoors and interacting with his friends and family without the help of an electronic device.
Bible verses are included throughout the book to illustrate the points made in the text.
The illustrations by Bill Clark are colorful and expressive and compliment the text.
What I Like: Nearly every child can relate to a story about playing video games. It’s good to have a Biblical perspective on such a modern-day subject.
Also, this is a popular series of books that are short but carry a positive message for today’s kids.
What I Dislike: There are Bible verses in the book used to illustrate various points in the story. However, some are a bit obscure or off-base in their relation to the text.
Overall Rating: Very Good.
