Today I Found God

Where is God? Where would you look for him – in your church, or in your backyard, or in your house? He’s in all those places, but the most important place is one you can’t see.

When a young boy named Billy has a terrible day, he blames God for his troubles. He asks God to explain why He’s letting so many bad things happen to him. God doesn’t answer right away, so Billy boy goes looking for Him.

Billy goes looking for God in church, which seems like a logical thing to do. But, he can’t find Him anywhere – not under the pew or by the window or behind the altar. He does finally finds God, though, in a quiet place, someplace he never expected.

Today I Found God, written by Greg Long, is a great book for any kid (or anyone else, for that matter) who is having a bad day as we all can relate to the sentiments expressed. The rhyming text makes it an easy-read and the colorful, expressive illustrations by Nathan Wondrak make it a visual pleasure.

What I Like: Everything.

What I Dislike: Nothing. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a great fan of books with rhyming text. It’s very difficult to write text in rhyme and do it well. This book is one of the exceptions; the rhyming text makes the story easy to read.

Overall Rating: Excellent.

Age Appeal: None was given, but I'd say 8-12.
