Jesus Teaches, is about the story of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10:25-37. The illustrations are very interesting for little ones, and the story is told accurately but briefly.
Jesus Tells Some Stories, details three of the parables that Jesus told: The Parable of the Good Shepherd, The Woman Who Lost Her Coin, and the Story of the Prodigal Son.These stories can be found in Luke 15:3-32.
Jesus and the Fisherman, is my favorite of these three books. I love the way the book opens:
"Jesus often walked by the lakeside, watching the birds and listening to the waves lapping on the beach. He liked to feel the wind on His face and the soft sand under His feet. He loved the beautiful world around Him."
This book tells the story of how Jesus spoke to the crowd from Peter's boat. It goes on to tell how although Peter hadn't caught any fish all day, when Jesus told Peter to cast out his net, he caught so many fish that the net broke! The story ends with Jesus telling the fishermen to "Follow me." This story is taken from Luke 5:1-11.
What I Like: The size of the book, and the concise stories.
What I Dislike: In Jesus Tells Some Stories, the last two parables are not explained at all.
Overall Rating: Very Good
Age Appeal: Ages 4-8, but I think younger children could enjoy having these read aloud to them.
