Baby's First Bible

Baby's First Bible, by Reader's Digest and illustrated by Colin and Moira MacLean, is the perfect first Bible for infants.

The book begins with creation and we meet several Old Testament heroes: Noah, Moses, David, and Daniel. There are two praise-type verses before the book moves into the life of Jesus. Included is the story of young Jesus at the temple and the story of Zacchaeus.

The rhyming phrases are brief and a suggested parent/child activity is listed on the bottom of each page. On the Baby Moses page, the activity asks that you pretend to rock a baby.

The brightly-colored illustrations are eye-catching. Jesus is depicted in a traditional way, and His facial expressions, as well as the faces of the children and animals, are delightful and sweet.

What I Like: The carrying handle is so cute and there are peek-through windows-perfect for little fingers to explore!

What I Dislike: Nothing. I loved the chosen selection of Bible stories, and the length of the book is perfect for the age group.

Overall Rating: Very Good.

Age Appeal: Infant to preschool.

bought this one five years ago for my first-born, and she is reading it to number 3. :) It's short, sweet, and perfect for babies.
