The first thing you'll notice about this padded board book is its magnificent illustrations, which appear to be reproductions of Victorian biblical artwork. Rich and alive with rich, deep color, these illustrations are realistic and detailed. (The cover, as shown here and at the links below, do not begin to do the art work justice.)
Inside the covers of this book, you'll also find one a page synopsis about Old Testament heroes Noah; Abraham; Joseph; Moses; Joshua; Gideon; David; Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego; Daniel; and Esther. Because each is covered in only one small page, just the major highlights of each person is included.
What I Like: The illustrations are gorgeous and my four year old loves studying them. I also like the idea of a book that easily breaks into short sections that introduces or reminds children about some famous people of the Old Testament and how they worked with God.
What I Dislike: If you approach this book only as an introduction or synopsis of famous biblical people, I don't think you'll be disappointed. However, some may wish a fuller version of each person's story was told.
Overall Rating: Very good.
Age Appeal: According to the publisher, 3 and up, but I'd say 3 - 8, depending upon your child's familiarity with these Bible heroes.
