Beginning With God
I'm so excited to tell you about the wonderful devotional, Beginning With God, by Steve T. Barclift, and illustrated by Tony Kenyon. This has become a well loved book in our home.
The book is split up into 52 units, 13 units for each of the four seasons. Each unit has a story to read, questions to answer, a corresponding Bible story to read, a Bible verse to learn, suggestions for prayer, and activities to do.
The Kenton family is featured in the stories, and you will get to know them well! Also, if there is a topic that you as a parent would like your children to focus on, you can look it up in the handy index in the back of the book. This book is a great first devotional. Even though our two year old is a little young for the book, she definitely enjoys the stories and knows the whole family by name.
What I Like: I like the layout of this book. The story is featured first with large and colorful illustrations. The corresponding activities follow the story. The Kenton family is likeable and they face real problems that you and your child will identify with.
What I Dislike: Nothing at all!
Overall Rating: Excellent
Age Appeal: 5-9
Publishing Info: Kregal Publications, 2004; ISBN: 082542044X ; hardback, $14.99.
