Thank, You God

Thank You, God, written and illustrated by P.K. Hallinan, is a sweet board book that will show children the things that they can thank God for.

The book is written in rhyming verse and has watercolor illustrations that depict children of all races. My one year old daughter seems mesmerized by the pictures when she is flipping through the pages.

The book starts out:
"Thank you, God, for all that you give --
For the friends that I have,
For the home where I live."

It goes on to thank God for the blessings that the four seasons give, the morning and night, for answered prayer and miracles, for food, for guidance along the right paths, for protection, for family, for animals, for the nature of God (this touches on Jesus' death on the cross), and for eternal life.

The book ends with:

"And I thank you for all of the wonders I see,
But mostly I thank you for just loving me."

What I Like: There is something so simple but yet so thorough about this book. The illustrations are beautiful and appeal to younger children. The words complement the sweetness of the pictures. This book of 26 pages also has a very hefty feel. My daughter has never struggled with turning the pages of the book herself.

What I Dislike: I like everything about this book!
