Is God Always With Me?

Is God Always With Me?, written by Crystal Bowman, with precious illustrations by Elena Kucharik has rhythmic text teaching young children that God is with them no matter where they are or what they do. When they are afraid, alone in their rooms, or when they are sad, they learn the power of Gods ability to be everywhere at one time. The book begins with a quoted verse from Psalm 121:8, then falls into rhyming questions children may often ask. Children will learn that they can talk to God any time, and He is never far away.

There are biblical answers to these questions in the back. The illustrator is also the artist of the Care Bears.

What I Like: I enjoy rhyming text for children this age, it gets their attention and keeps it. I also like the author’s abilities to teach young children to establish a relationship with God, and make them aware that He is, indeed, always with us.

What I Dislike: There are no adults in this book, only four or five children. I thought maybe these children lived in different homes and were best friends, but, later on, I got the impression these children were orphans. I’m not sure. It could be used either way, though.

Overall Rating: Very Good.

Age Appeal: 4 - 6
