God Knows My Name

God Knows My Name is a delightful book teaching children about God's omniscience. Written and illustrated by Debby Anderson, it explains in clear and simple fashion how God knows everything -- from the number of hairs on our heads to the names of every star. The author incorporates direct questions to the readers throughout the text. It invites children to interact with the illustrations ("Can you find the ...?") and the content ("What's your favorite color? Surprise! God already knew it!") Scripture references are given on nearly every page offering supports and the opportunity for further biblical study. The illustrations are colorful and happy, featuring children (and names) of all ethnicities.

What I Like: The diversity is fantastic! The text is doctrinally sound and age appropriate. The author does a fantastic job making this faith foundation inviting and exciting to children. My kids love the illustrations! And I love the Scriptural supports. It's wonderful to be able to go right to Scripture and remind the kids: "See? This is true! This is what God's Word says ..."

What I Dislike: At some points, the text seems disjointed. The flow seems to stutter and jump a bit. Because of this, I found a couple spots redundant - almost as if we were backing up to go forward.

Overall Rating: Very Good.

Age Appeal: 3-7
